Job summary

Lonza in Slough, United Kingdom, is seeking a laboratory-based Scientist for QC Product Testing & Stability. You will perform analytical testing on therapeutic protein samples in a GMP environment, review data, and prepare stability protocols and reports to support product quality and stability programmes.

You will mentor colleagues, support investigations and contribute to continuous improvement while collaborating with Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

  • Requires degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
  • Experience in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical/biological lab environment.
  • Practical knowledge of analytical techniques (HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, spectrophotometry).
  • Understanding of cGMP principles and QA laboratory practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical testing on protein samples using HPLC, CE, spectrophotometry and other physicochemical methods per GMP/SOPs.
  • Review data for technical accuracy and interpret results against specifications; communicate observations to stakeholders.
  • Prepare stability study protocols, testing summaries and technical reports to support product quality.
  • Support investigations, deviations, CAPAs and change controls; lead routine quality investigations where appropriate.
  • Mentor colleagues, share knowledge, provide training and promote good lab practices.
  • Contribute to laboratory operations via equipment monitoring, reagent management and continuous improvement.

Join Lonza's QC Product Testing & Stability team in Slough and play a key role in ensuring the quality and stability of therapeutic protein products that help improve patients' lives. This is an exciting opportunity for a laboratory-based scientist to apply analytical expertise in a regulated GMP environment while developing technical and quality assurance experience. This is a fully site-based role. Working together in person supports close, real-time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

What you will do
  • Perform analytical testing on therapeutic protein samples using techniques including HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, spectrophotometry and other physicochemical methods in accordance with GMP requirements, SOPs and study protocols.
  • Review analytical data for technical accuracy, interpret results against specifications, identify trends and communicate observations to key stakeholders including Study Directors, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing.
  • Prepare stability study protocols, testing summaries and technical reports to support product quality and stability programmes.
  • Support investigations, deviations, CAPAs and change controls, independently leading routine quality investigations where appropriate.
  • Mentor and support colleagues by sharing technical knowledge, providing training and promoting best laboratory practices.
  • Contribute to laboratory operations through equipment monitoring, reagent and consumable management, housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively across Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing to ensure customer, regulatory and business requirements are consistently met.
What we are looking for
  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent relevant laboratory experience.
  • Experience working within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biological laboratory environment.
  • Practical knowledge of analytical techniques such as HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, spectrophotometry or other protein characterisation methods.
  • Understanding of cGMP principles and their application within a quality-controlled laboratory.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to prioritise work and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning, quality, safety and process improvement.
