Job summary

PPG Industries – Shildon is seeking a QC Methods Engineer to oversee quality control procedures, keep audit-ready documentation, and support key QC systems (ETQ, QPulse, LIMS).

The role emphasizes data analysis, SPC, root cause investigations, CAPA implementation, and cross-functional collaboration with QA, Operations and Engineering to drive process improvements and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Over 5 years in a Quality Control environment.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 or equivalent quality standards.
• Over 5 years in a highly regulated environment (Pharma/Food/labs).
• Experience using data analysis to inform improvements with test methods.
• Structured background using Root Cause Analysis & CAPA.

Responsibilities

• Manage QC procedures, SOPs, and metrics within ETQ.
• Support QC systems including ETQ, QPulse, LIMS and related tools.
• Maintain quality records, certificates and inspection reports audit-ready.
• Lead Change (MOC) process.
• Analyze quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Perform SPC analysis and provide performance reporting.
• Lead root cause investigations using 5 Why, Ishikawa, 8D, and PDCA.
• Implement and track CAPA for sustained improvements.
• Lead equipment qualification activities and calibration programs.
• Monitor calibration and servicing performance metrics.
• Provide technical guidance on QC processes.
• Plan, conduct and support internal audits of quality systems and labs.
• Support customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
• Track audit findings and closure of corrective actions.
• Manage QC training administration and competency records.
• Collaborate with QA, Operations and Engineering on non-conformances and validations.
