Job summary

DATS Recruitment Ltd is seeking a QC Manager – Personal Care & Household FMCG for the North West England region. This senior role leads formulation, development and scale-up of skincare, haircare, detergents and surface cleaning products, taking projects from concept to full-scale manufacture.

You will manage a team of formulation chemists, drive discovery and optimization, ensure regulatory compliance, review technical docs and collaborate with Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing and Procurement

Qualifications

• BSc or higher in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5–7+ years' formulation/R&D experience within FMCG, personal care, cosmetics or household products.
• Previous laboratory team leadership or mentoring experience.
• Strong knowledge of surfactants, emulsions, rheology and formulation chemistry.
• Experience with product scale-up and commercial manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of formulation chemists.

• Manage formulation projects from laboratory development through pilot and commercial scale-up.
• Oversee stability, viscosity, pH and performance testing.
• Prepare and approve Methods of Manufacture (MOMs), SOPs and technical specifications.
• Support regulatory compliance, including REACH, CLP, IFRA and cosmetic regulations.
• Review technical documentation including SDSs and PIFs.
• Troubleshoot formulation and manufacturing issues.
• Work closely with Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement and raw material suppliers.

We are seeking an experienced Development Chemistry Manager/QC to lead the formulation, development and scale-up of innovative personal care and household cleaning products.

This is a senior R&D role combining technical formulation expertise, team leadership and commercial product development, taking projects from laboratory concept through to full-scale manufacture.

Key Responsibilities
