Job summary

ASL Technical Ltd. near Hastings seeks an experienced Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing team focused on precision machining. You will ensure components meet strict tolerances, drawings, and customer specs, supporting low to high volume production.

Responsibilities include inspections, documentation (FAIRs/ISIRs), gauge calibration, and collaboration with production and engineering to drive quality improvements while maintaining traceability and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting high precision, complex machined components.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and tight tolerances.
• Experience using precision measurement equipment (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, CMM equipment).
• Experience creating FAIRs and ISIRs and completing quality documentation.
• Ability to work across low, medium, and high production volumes.

Responsibilities

• Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections on machined components while monitoring the inspection schedule to align with job priorities.
• Verify that dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes comply with engineering drawings and customer specifications.
• Complete inspection reports and quality documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Create FAIRs (First Article Inspection Reports) and ISIRs (Initial Sample Inspection Reports) in line with customer and industry standards.
• Support 8D investigations and corrective action processes.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
• Provide feedback on dimensional issues, process inconsistencies, or potential improvements.
• Log and manage all gauges and instruments, assigning unique identification numbers for traceability.
• Coordinate calibration activities with external calibration providers to avoid production delays.
• Manage the check-in/check-out process for gauges and measuring equipment.
• Support internal and external audits relating to gauge compliance.
