Job summary

manucomm recruitment seeks a QA Team Leader for a food manufacturing site near Ilminster, Somerset. Circa £34,000, Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm, on-site role focused on leading QA activities and maintaining food safety standards.

You will work with Production and Technical teams to ensure product quality, support audit processes, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a QA or technical team in a food manufacturing setting.
• Strong communication and attention to detail to ensure product quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead the QA team to ensure quality specifications and food safety standards.
• Investigate out-of-spec products and support corrective actions.
• Coordinate GMP audits and assist with internal and external audits.
• Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee day-to-day QA team operations, including cover for absence and holidays.
• Collaborate with Production to maintain quality and efficiency.

Ready to take the next step in Quality Assurance?

We’re looking for a proactive QA Team Leader to join our Technical team at our food manufacturing site near Ilminster.

If you have food manufacturing experience, a keen eye for detail and a passion for product quality and food safety, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills and make a real impact.

Working closely with Production and Technical colleagues, you’ll help maintain high standards, support audit compliance and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll be doing

• Ensuring products meet quality specifications and food safety standards.
• Investigating out-of-specification products and supporting corrective actions.
• Coordinating GMP audits and supporting internal and external audits.
• Monitoring KPIs and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Supporting the day-to-day running of the QA team, including absence and holiday cover.
• Working collaboratively with Production to maintain quality and operational efficiency.

What we’re looking for

• Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• A flexible, organised approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
• Team leadership experience is desirable.
• Food Safety, HACCP or Internal Auditing qualifications are an advantage.
