Job summary

Stratospherec Limited is seeking a QA Software Test Engineer with strong automation experience to join a growing technology team. The role involves working mostly remotely with occasional travel to the Basingstoke HQ, testing complex SaaS web applications, APIs, and backend services while leveraging AI tools to enhance test coverage and efficiency.

You will contribute to designing test plans, developing automated tests, and supporting CI/CD.

Qualifications

QA Software Test Engineer - AI Testing

Mostly remote working - Very occasional travel to Basingstoke, Hampshire

Stratospherec are recruiting for an experienced QA Software Test Engineer to join a growing technology team mainly working remotely and with a HQ office in Basingstoke.

This is an exciting opportunity for a QA Engineer with strong automation experience who wants to play a key role in using and implementing AI as an integral part of the software testing lifecycle.

You will work across a complex SaaS environment, testing web applications, APIs, backend services, databases and connected hardware. Alongside traditional QA and automation, you will actively use AI tools to improve test coverage, test creation, automation, defect investigation and overall testing efficiency.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Creating and executing functional, integration, regression and system test plans.
• Developing and maintaining automated tests across UI, API and integration layers.
• Using AI tools as part of your daily QA workflow, including test generation, test data creation, automation and defect analysis.
• Identifying and implementing new ways to use AI to improve testing processes and software quality.
• Testing APIs, integrations, webhooks and distributed SaaS components.
• Configuring test environments and carrying out hands‑on testing with software and physical devices.
• Investigating defects and working closely with developers and Product teams to resolve issues.
• Supporting CI/CD, backend and integration testing.
• Contributing to the improvement of QA processes, automation and testing standards.

About You

We are looking for a technically strong QA Engineer with:

• 5 years' minimum experience in software testing/QA.
• Very strong experience with automated testing.
• Experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as Python.
• Strong experience across functional, integration, regression and system testing.
• Experience testing APIs, integrations and/or distributed software.
• Experience testing web and/or desktop applications.
• Practical experience using AI tools within software development or testing workflows.
• Strong experience in implementing AI into everyday QA processes.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience working within an Agile environment.
• API testing experience with Postman
• Automation Testing experience with Playwright, Selenium, TestComplete or similar

Desirable

Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI, C#, CI/CD, SaaS platforms or hardware/device integrations would be advantageous.
