Job summary

Cranswick Country Foods, a major UK food producer, is seeking a QA Operative for its flagship abattoir site in Hull. The role involves quality checks, hygiene, and strict adherence to customer requirements within a fast-paced production environment.

Based at the Preston, Hull site, you will maintain technical standards, perform audits, sample collection, CCP verification, and correct any non-conformances. The position offers weekly pay, overtime at time and a quarter, and a range of staff

Qualifications

• Experience in QA/Technical/Production Operative roles.
• Experience in FMCG manufacturing preferred.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of food hygiene and safety.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments.
• Must have suitable transport to HU12 8TB.

Responsibilities

• Carry out quality checks and audits according to schedules.
• Record results and raise issues promptly when non-conformances occur.
• Collect samples (chemical, microbiological, organoleptic) as per schedules.
• Perform calibration checks and document results.
• Complete pre-operational hygiene inspections and report failings.
• Conduct GMP audits and ensure corrective actions are communicated.
• Verify CCPs relevant to the area and report non-conformances.
• Close out non-conformances and drive preventive actions.
• Assess quality attributes of finished products per defined specs.
• Carry out raw material intake checks to ensure product compliance.

Week 1: 06:00-14:30 (finish time is until production finishes)

Week 2: 08:30-15:00 (finish time is until production finishes)

We are currently recruiting for a QA Operative to be responsible for carrying out all relevant quality checks, maintaining technical standards in line with legislation and customer requirements. This role is based at one of our flagship pork manufacturing sites, where recent investments have paved the way for cutting-edge logistics and operational improvements.

Please note this position is based in our Abattoir factory.

Main Duties Include (but not limited to):

• Conducting label / process control audits every 1-2 hours to ensure records are being completed correctly and at the right times as well as raising and issues at the time
• Conducting temperature verification checks (including sterilisers, hand washing stations, product, environmental)
• Ensure collection of chemical, microbiological and organoleptic samples in line with current schedules
• Conducting calibration checks and record the results
• Conducting pre-operational hygiene inspections and report any failings immediately
• Conducting GMP audits and fabrication to ensure any corrective actions required are communicated
• Conducting CCP verification relevant to the area being worked in and report any Non-Conformances
• Ensure closure of any non-conformances raised and proactive prevention of repetition
• Quality attribute assessments on finished product to the defined attributes and a specified frequency
• Completing raw material intake checks to ensure all product adheres to the specification

What We Look For:

• Experience in a similar role - QA / Technical / Experienced Production Operative
• Previous experience of FMCG manufacturing (food manufacturing preferred but not essential)
• Strong level of attention to detail
• Good understanding of food hygiene and safety
• Comfortable working in fast-paced environments
• Suitable transport to get to HU12 8TB
