Job summary

The Very Group in Liverpool is seeking a senior QA leader to drive quality engineering across our Logistics & Fulfilment domains. You’ll champion automation-first testing and work closely with Product, Engineering and Architecture teams to raise standards.

You will mentor offshore teams, promote TDD/BDD, and use AI-powered testing tools to improve efficiency and delivery. This role offers a hybrid working model and exposure to complex, customer-facing systems.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Software Testing and Quality Engineering within complex technology environments.
• Experience operating at Principal, Lead or Senior QA level.
• Strong understanding of modern software development practices and Agile delivery methodologies.
• Proven experience designing and implementing automated testing strategies.
• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and coding for automation.
• Experience working with AI tools, APIs and testing tools such as Postman.
• Strong exploratory, functional and technical testing capabilities.
• Experience implementing Test-Driven approaches including BDD, TDD and ATDD.
• Understanding of non-functional testing disciplines including performance, resilience and security testing.
• Experience working within Logistics, Supply Chain, Fulfilment, Retail, Ecommerce or similarly complex operational environments would be highly beneficial.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels internally and externally.
• A passion for coaching, mentoring and developing quality engineering capability and experience working with offshore teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead Quality Engineering strategy across Logistics & Fulfilment domains to embed quality throughout SDLC.
• Champion automation-first delivery for faster, reliable outcomes.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers and Architects to ensure quality from discovery to deployment.
• Build confidence in platforms via functional, non-functional, and exploratory testing.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to improve testing design and team efficiency.
• Mentor and align offshore QA teams with leadership and guidance.
• Promote TDD, BDD and shift-left testing across squads.
• Identify and improve tooling, frameworks, and processes.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to manage risk and ensure successful delivery.
• Use data and metrics to raise engineering standards.
