Job summary

Waterstones in London is seeking a QA Engineer to join our digital team. You will ensure quality of our ecommerce websites and mobile apps through manual and automated testing, working with developers, product owners and business stakeholders to deliver reliable releases.

The role covers test case design, API testing, CI/CD integration, and supporting UAT and post-release checks. Experience with Jira, Postman, and Playwright is preferred, with ISTQB certification a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience testing websites and mobile applications.

Responsibilities

• Review requirements and acceptance criteria, identifying gaps and risks.
• Create, maintain and execute test cases for new features, enhancements and defect fixes.
• Test key e-commerce journeys: search, basket, checkout, payments, customer accounts and order management.
• Validate APIs and use database queries to verify data accuracy.
• Log and track defects in Jira with clear reproduction steps.
• Develop and maintain automated tests and integrate into CI/CD pipelines.
• Support UAT, release readiness and post-release smoke testing.
• Communicate testing progress, blockers and quality risks.
• Contribute to improvements in test coverage, documentation and QA processes.
