Job summary

Ronald James Group in Newcastle is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to strengthen QA through automation, AI-assisted testing and continuous improvement. You will build, maintain and run automated UI and API test suites to improve software quality and speed up delivery.

You will collaborate with Product, Engineering and QA teams, working in a hybrid setup in Newcastle to identify risks and ensure tests align with delivery priorities.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining automated UI and API tests.
• Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted testing tools.
• Ability to write maintainable test code.
• Knowledge of source control, pull requests and code reviews.
• Experience running automated tests within CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of regression testing, test data and environments.
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, maintain and execute automated UI and API tests.
• Use AI-assisted testing tools to support test creation and regression identification.
• Write clear, reliable and maintainable test code.
• Run automated tests through CI/CD pipelines.
• Debug failing tests and identify issues across products and environments.
• Maintain stable regression test suites.
• Identify test scenarios and automation opportunities from requirements.
• Investigate and document defects clearly.
• Use results and trends to improve QA practices.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering and QA teams.
