Arcus Search is seeking a Python Developer to join a collaborative team building data-driven products and services in the UK. The role offers a London-based office with strong remote-working support and occasional travel.

You will design, develop, and maintain event-driven applications and APIs, deploy services to production, and work with cross-functional teams across the full development lifecycle. Flexible, hybrid work is available.

Formación

• Commercial experience developing and deploying Python applications across the full SDLC.
• Strong background building microservices with Flask or FastAPI.
• Solid understanding of event-driven systems, ideally with Kafka.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and containerisation with Docker.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally AWS and CI/CD pipelines.
• Desirable: Terraform and performance optimisation for high-concurrency data environments.

Responsabilidades

• Designing, developing, and maintaining event-driven applications and API services.
• Contributing to the infrastructure and deployment of services in production environments.
• Following software engineering best practices and coding standards.

The company offers a flexible working environment, with a London-based office and strong remote-working support. Occasional travel may be required (likely once a quarter, maximum once a month).

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing, developing, and maintaining event-driven applications and API services
• Contributing to the infrastructure and deployment of services in production environments
• Following software engineering best practices and coding standards
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, DevOps engineers, data scientists, and product managers
• Taking ownership of services throughout the full development lifecycle, from initial design through to deployment, monitoring, and optimisation

Requirements

• Commercial experience developing and deploying Python applications across the full software development lifecycle
• Strong background building microservices-based architectures using Flask or FastAPI.
• Solid understanding of event-driven systems, ideally with hands‑on Kafka experience
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and cloud-based orchestration environments
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally AWS
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested codeStrong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail

Desirable Experience

• Understanding of software design patterns and engineering best practices
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Appreciation of performance optimisation, particularly within high-concurrency or large-scale data environments
