Sony UK Technology Centre in Pencoed, Wales, is seeking a Purchasing Officer to manage material control across our manufacturing site and to maintain strong supplier relationships.

You will handle day-to-day procurement activities, track orders, review deliveries, and support internal stakeholders including finance and production. Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Oracle ERP is essential, as is the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsabilidades

• Day to Day Vendor Management & Supplier Relationship Management.
• Place, reschedule and cancel orders; collate POs and requisitions.
• Track order status and ensure on-time deliveries in full.
• Review deliveries against orders and handle obsolete/excess values.
• Support finance, Incoming Quality and Production stakeholders.
• Maintain organised PO acknowledgements and records.
• Lead process improvements, automation and reviews.
• Negotiate lead times and cost reductions with suppliers.

Sony UK Technology Centre is a division of Sony Europe Limited. We are the only manufacturing centre for Sony in Europe and have over 500 highly skilled team players who help create some of the most advanced technology on the global market. The heart of today’s operation at Pencoed is centered on the manufacture of high technology Broadcast and Professional Cameras and Systems including the latest industry leading 4K technology. Alongside this we provide contract manufacturing solutions for multiple non-Sony branded businesses. This collaborative approach to contract manufacturing has produced many commercial successes over the years, including the best-selling British computer of all time, the Raspberry Pi. Further, we are the home of a Sony customer service and solutions centre, a Business Incubation Centre and much more.

What you will be doing:

The role of Purchasing Officer will work within our ever-growing Supply Chain, and will be responsible for material control across our multi-disciplinary Manufacturing site. You will need to have strong communication skills ensuring the best customer service is upheld when managing our suppliers day-to-day. In this role, you will be required to work under pressure using your initiative to analyse and resolve complex supply problems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Day to Day Vendor Management & Supplier Relationship Management
• Managing activities such as placing and rescheduling parts and cancellations of orders
• Collate purchase orders & purchase requisitions to fulfil demand.
• Track the status of responsible orders
• Review deliveries against the orders, including ‘on time in full’ reporting
• Review component Obsolete & Excess values & Qtys
• Support internal stakeholders such as finance, Incoming Quality & Production
• Ensure a strong standard of organisation is upheld with PO’s/ acknowledgements
• Process Improvements (PI) activities, such as automation and process reviews
• Negotiating with suppliers on Lead Time Improvements & Cost Reductions

• Excellent time management disciplines whilst also maintaining attention to detail.
• Highly motivated, to ensure supply of components arrive in a timely manner inline with the business needs
• Ability to work autonomously, taking responsibility for the vendors allocated
• Previous experience or knowledge in Purchasing and Procurement
• Computer literacy (Excel and PowerPoint application skills are required)
• Understanding of Oracle ERP System
• Experience of Expediting or Buying roles
• Experience of operating in a manufacturing environment
• Previous experience in a fast paced work environment
