Job summary

Omya Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead a team of Product Coordinators, aligning procurement with product managers, sales, and management. You will develop short- to mid-term demand plans and oversee replenishment while optimizing stock levels to meet customer demand.

The role demands strong analytical skills, ERP/SAP experience, and a proven track record in supplier management.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Bachelor equivalent; CIPS Level 2 or above is advantageous.
  • 3+ years in purchasing / supply chain coordination (B2B preferred).
  • Experience in polymer industry is beneficial.
  • Previous team management experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and build short to mid term Demand Plans in line with target volume plans of Principal.
  • Review and adjust forecasts, mitigate supply chain disruptions.
  • Oversee replenishment execution and strategy (MRP, safety stock).
  • Provide monthly inventory reports and KPI on stocks.

Job description

The purchasing manager is responsible for a team of coordinators that are actively managing the purchase of goods for distribution & monitoring inventory levels in the Distrupol business. As part of the supply chain team the coordinator will be responsible for providing accurate information of upcoming purchase orders in alignment with Distrupol’s product managers, sales and management.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Working in close collaboration with Product Management and ensure we serve our Principal best in class.
  • Develop and build short to mid term Demand Plans in line with target volume plans of Principal considering historical purchase, sales data and market trends
  • Continuously review and adjust forecasts, implement improvements in demand planning processes, and mitigate supply chain disruptions
  • Ensure smooth and error free execution of replenishment process
  • Define and implement replenishment strategy (MRP, safety stock parameter)
  • Support new Principal and Product onboarding and changes
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing costs and avoiding stockouts or overstock situations
  • To proactively manage slow moving and aged stock through the business as appropriate
  • Present Inventory, demand plans, trends, and insights to management and stakeholders
  • Provide monthly inventory reports and KPI on stocks (value, volume, aged, etc.)
  • To be responsible and answerable for all Product Coordinator (PC) tasks
  • Build and develop a resilient Product Coordinator team:
  • To hold regular reviews on product and supplier activity with PC team
  • Proactively coach, lead, develop and motivate the PC team
  • To regularly review performance against agreed objectives
  • To participate in the training of subordinate personnel as appropriate
  • To ensure all purchases are in accordance with purchasing procedures and be in line with the authority limits set
  • To provide quality information and support to the supply chain management, product management and sales departments
  • Together with Product Management and Quality Dept. support handling of Service and Quality related issues with Principals
  • To actively and effectively participate in relevant projects or assignments
  • To promote a professional image of the Company’s purchasing operations
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
  • Diploma/Bachelor equivalent in a related area is preferable.
  • Additional education is advantageous.
  • Relevant qualifications in procurement, supply chain or business administration (e.g., CIPS Level 2 or above) is advantageous.
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing / supply chain coordination is preferred, ideally in a B2B environment.
  • Experience in the Polymer industry is highly beneficial.
  • Previous experience in managing a team would be advantageous.
Knowledge and skills
  • Clear track record of achieving and sustaining customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of incoterms, international shipping and customs processes is beneficial.
  • Good analytical skills and problem solving
  • End 2 End Supply Chain knowledge
  • Advanced reporting capabilities and working with complex data structures and cloud analytics tools (ERP, SAP BI/SAC dash-boards)
  • Outstanding communication skills that enable effective internal and external relationships.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, with excellent interpersonal skills combined with a self-motivated & creative can-do mindset.
  • Able to work in a matrix organization.
  • Proven track record of working with suppliers to manage lead times, pricing, and stock availability.
  • A pragmatic, solution-oriented, and hands-on mindset with a drive to deliver success and meet timelines without compromising on quality.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Understand importing & exporting requirements of the countries within responsibility.
Other requirements
  • Excellent command of both oral and written English is required.
  • Additional languages (preferably an EMEA language) will be beneficial.
