Job summary

ESS Employment Ltd. are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Purchasing Assistant to cover maternity leave. The role focuses on purchasing, supplier management, importing goods, product compliance and new product administration, supporting day-to-day procurement to ensure timely, compliant material orders.

The successful candidate will manage supplier relations, import processes, and utilise Sage X3 and Excel daily in a manufacturing and distribution setting.

Qualifications

• Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Proficient IT skills, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Proactive and flexible, able to work independently or in a team.
• Experience in negotiating, purchasing, procurement, importing or administration is essential.
• Sage X3 experience is beneficial, training can be provided.
• Awareness of product labelling or packaging compliance is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Import goods from outside the UK (EU and Asia).
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure terms.
• Keep up to date with legislation on labels and tin artwork.
• Daily use of Sage X3 and Excel for purchasing activities.
• Work within a manufacturing and distribution environment.
