The Sterling Choice in Wythenshawe is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join a busy food manufacturing team. The role is hybrid, with 3 days on site, and you will help drive supplier negotiations, pricing and material purchases to keep production moving.

You’ll work closely with the Purchasing Manager, manage data in the MRP system and contribute to tenders, contracts and new product launches while seeking cost, supply and efficiency improvements.

• Organised, comfortable with numbers and able to deal with suppliers and internal teams.
• Good Excel skills and experience using an MRP system are useful.
• Ideally a Purchasing Assistant or similar role in food/beverage manufacturing.

Responsabilidades

• Purchase ingredients and materials to keep production moving.
• Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, availability and lead times.
• Participate in tenders, contracts and procurement projects.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues.
• Maintain purchasing data, specifications and contracts in the MRP system.
• Produce stock cover and forecasting reports.
• Support new ingredient and product introductions.
• Collaborate with Technical, NPD, Planning and Operations.
• Identify ways to improve cost, supply and efficiency.

Wythenshawe | Hybrid – 3 days on site | £35,000

This isn't a role where you'll spend all day raising purchase orders and chasing paperwork.

You'll be joining a busy food manufacturing business, working alongside the Purchasing Manager and getting involved in everything from supplier negotiations and pricing to ingredients, stock levels and new product launches.

There's plenty to get your teeth into, and the opportunity to build your knowledge across the wider procurement function.

What will you be doing?

• Purchasing ingredients and materials to keep production moving.
• Speaking with suppliers about pricing, availability and lead times.
• Getting involved in tenders, contracts and procurement projects.
• Keeping an eye on supplier performance and sorting out any issues.
• Maintaining purchasing data, specifications and contracts through the MRP system.
• Producing stock cover and forecasting reports.
• Supporting new ingredient and product introductions.
• Working closely with Technical, NPD, Planning and Operations.
• Looking for ways to improve costs, supply and efficiency.

What are they looking for?

• Ideally, you'll already be working in a Purchasing Assistant, Procurement Assistant or similar role, preferably within food or beverage manufacturing.
• You'll need to be organised, comfortable working with numbers and confident dealing with suppliers and internal teams.
• Good Excel skills and experience using an MRP system would be useful.
• More than anything, they're looking for someone with a bit of commercial curiosity who wants to learn, get involved and develop their purchasing experience.
