Job description

Role Title: Purchasing Assistant

Location: West London (Park Royal area)

Salary: GBP35,000 + Private Health Insurance, Pension Scheme, 20 days holiday

Position: Full-time, Permanent

About the Job

Are you an experienced purchasing professional looking for a stable, busy role in a friendly manufacturing team?

We are working with a really successful UK engineering company in West London that makes specialised technical equipment. They are a great, stable business and are now looking for a reliable Purchasing Assistant to join their operations team.

This isn't just a basic data-entry job - you will be the main person looking after the day-to-day order book, making sure the production area has all the raw materials and parts they need to keep production running smoothly.

What You ll Be Doing
  • Managing Orders: Raising and tracking purchase orders for engineering materials and everyday supplies, checking that prices and delivery dates are correct.
  • Chasing Suppliers: Monitoring the open order book and actively chasing up suppliers to make sure deliveries arrive on time.
  • Getting Quotes: Getting prices and lead times from approved suppliers to help get the best value.
  • Stock Planning: Running daily reports to see what parts are running low so they can be reordered in time.
  • System Upkeep: Keeping the ERP/MRP computer system up to date with accurate prices, lead times, and part codes.
  • Problem Solving: Dealing with suppliers to sort out everyday issues like late deliveries, short orders, or invoice mistakes.
  • Shipping Support: Helping out with basic import paperwork and keeping in touch with freight couriers for overseas deliveries.
What We Are Looking For
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrable experience working within a dedicated purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role. Background knowledge of a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment is highly beneficial.
  • System Skills: Fully competent in using purchasing software or ERP/MRP systems to manage stock and orders.
  • Good with Detail: High attention to detail (ensuring total accuracy on order numbers, quantities, and prices) and solid Excel skills for tracking data.
  • Great Communicator: Someone who is confident picking up the phone to speak with suppliers and happy working closely alongside the production team.
About You

You need to be organised, practical, and able to work on your own initiative. We re looking for a proactive person - if a delivery is going to be late, you re the type of person who jumps on it early to try and sort it out before it becomes a problem for the factory floor.

What s in it for You?

A salary of GBP35,000, plus a good benefits package. The company is very secure, has a great team atmosphere, and offers plenty of long-term stability.
