Job summary

Barrett Steel, the UK’s largest steel distributor and processor, is recruiting for a Purchase Ledger Administrator on a 3‑month contract. You will manage over 2000 supplier accounts across multiple ledgers, processing around 1500 invoices per month and ensuring timely payments within terms.

Key duties include matching invoices on AS400, Proactis and CODA 12, reconciling statements, and resolving discrepancies. Hybrid working, 25 days holiday pro rata, and on-site parking are offered.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with high volume purchase ledger
• Strong ability to manage own workload and priorities
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Good IT skills, comfortable with Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of AS400, Proactis or CODA 12 preferred (training available)
• Maths GCSE or equivalent level required
• Available for the full 3-month contract

Responsibilities

• Process and code a high volume of purchase invoices
• Ensure invoices are matched and coded correctly
• Ensure timely supplier payments in line with terms
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain accurate supplier accounts across ledgers
• Handle supplier, depot and internal finance queries
• Maintain the busy PL email inbox and queries
• Build relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Carry out other finance duties as required
