Job summary

Perfect Placement UK Ltd is seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger to join their busy accounts department in Southampton. This full-time role offers a competitive salary and opportunities for additional earnings within a reputable, award-winning dealership group.

As part of a family-run business with a strong reputation, you will reconcile supplier statements, process invoices, manage payments, and support credit control across seven trading companies.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in purchase ledger or accounts payable roles, ideally within automotive or commercial vehicle sectors.
• Strong organisational skills and proficiency in relevant accounting software.
• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Confident communication skills with suppliers and internal teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload under deadlines.
• Knowledge of VAT procedures and credit control processes is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile supplier statements and liaise with suppliers to resolve discrepancies.
• Support accounts for seven trading companies including supplier and customer reconciliation.
• Process purchase invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Post transactions from daily bank statements, including receipts and payments.
• Prepare supplier payment runs monthly and issue remittances.
• Perform bank reconciliations, including credit card transactions.
• Post and reconcile internal invoices and payments.
• Set up new customer accounts after application processing.
• Assist credit control and liaise with customers to obtain funds.
• Support group credit control activities: posting remittances, queries, statements, chasing overdue payments by phone and email.
• Assist with vehicle sales invoicing and purchase ledger documentation.
• Provide support during audits and assist with annual accounts.
• Collaborate with Accounts Manager and daily office functions.
