Job summary

Brink’s Inc is seeking a detail-oriented Ledger Clerk to join our finance team. You will manage day-to-day ledger activities, process invoices, and support month-end tasks to ensure accuracy and compliance.

You will work under the Ledger Supervisor and collaborate with colleagues to drive improvements, automation, and efficiency across the ledger function. A strong eye for detail and proactivity are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Process supplier and customer invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Raise sales invoices across multiple income streams.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Process credit notes and maintain supporting records.
  • Ensure ledger transactions comply with internal controls and procedures.
  • Allocate customer receipts and supplier payments.
  • Process weekly BACS runs and ad-hoc payment requests.
  • Manage monthly direct debit collections.
  • Produce customer statements and support debt collection activities.
  • Work with internal teams to resolve disputes and outstanding balances.
  • Review aged debtors and creditors.
  • Prepare accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain audit evidence and support month-end reporting and controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate processes.
  • Support finance projects and ad-hoc analysis.

Ledger Clerk

Finance Department | Full Time | Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

Join a Finance Team Where Accuracy, Improvement and Collaboration Matter

We're looking for a detail-oriented Ledger Clerk to join our growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong ledger experience who enjoys taking ownership, working with accuracy, and helping to drive continuous improvement within a fast-paced business.

Reporting to the Ledger Supervisor and working closely with the wider finance team, you'll play a key role in ensuring our sales and purchase ledgers operate efficiently, invoices are processed accurately, and month-end activities are completed to the highest standard.

What You'll Be Doing

As Ledger Clerk, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of ledger activities including:

Purchase & Sales Ledger
  • Processing supplier and customer invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Raising sales invoices across multiple income streams
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies
  • Processing credit notes and maintaining accurate supporting records
  • Ensuring all ledger transactions comply with internal controls and procedures
Payments & Collections
  • Allocating customer receipts and supplier payments
  • Processing weekly BACS runs and ad-hoc payment requests
  • Managing monthly direct debit collections
  • Producing customer statements and supporting debt collection activities
  • Working alongside internal teams to resolve disputes and outstanding balances
Month-End Support
  • Reviewing aged debtors and creditors
  • Preparing accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintaining accurate records and audit evidence
  • Supporting month-end reporting and financial controls
Continuous Improvement
  • Identifying opportunities to improve and automate processes
  • Supporting finance projects and ad-hoc analysis
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to enhance efficiency across the ledger function
What We're Looking For
Essential
  • Previous experience working within a finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable or ledger environment
  • Strong Excel skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Organised and methodical approach to work
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise workloads
  • Flexible and proactive attitude
Desirable
  • Experience using Sage X3 or similar ERP systems
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
