West Lothian Council in Livingston, Scotland, is seeking an enthusiastic Advanced Pupil Support Worker to join the team at Dedridge Primary School. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our learning community within Dedridge Primary School. Dedridge Primary is a non-denominational school, serving part of the community of Dedridge in West Lothian. The school is situated in an area of multiple deprivations.

The school roll is 146, across 6 mainstream classes and 5 classes for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The staff consists of the Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and Principal Teacher with responsibility for the mainstream school and the ERB (Enhanced Resource Base). There is an additional Principal Teacher with line management responsibility for the ERB, overseen by the Head and Depute Head Teacher. There are 3 pupil support workers who support learners across the mainstream classes and 7 advanced pupil support workers who support the children in the resource classes.

We are seeking an enthusiastic advanced pupil support worker to join the team supporting pupils within the Enhanced Resource Base. They will be part of the school team involved in implementing school strategies designed to improve pupil performance in the following areas:

• Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support (SCERTS)
• Transitions within the school and the local community
• Support Behaviour
• Relationships with peers
• Progress in learning and attainment
• Relationships with staff

Good communication skills are essential, and you should enjoy working as part of a team.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3-month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
