Job summary

Meltham Moor Primary School is seeking an Attendance, Welfare & Student Support Officer to strengthen pupil attendance, safeguarding and wellbeing. The role focuses on building trusted relationships with families, removing barriers to learning and providing emotional support to pupils daily.

Working hours are 35 per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm, with a permanent contract and term-time only arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Champion attendance by keeping in touch with families, spotting concerns early and helping pupils start each day well.
• Play a safeguarding role as a DDSL, ensuring children feel safe and supported.
• Build warm relationships with pupils and families, offering practical and emotional support to remove barriers to learning.
• Collaborate with teachers, leaders and external agencies to provide joined-up, personalised support for vulnerable learners.
• Use information and data to track progress, celebrate improvements and guide next steps for pupil wellbeing.
