Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Pupil Support Officer for Oaklands School on a fixed-term contract until 20 December 2027. This post is 30 hours per week across 39 weeks of the school session, with a salary range of £30,188–£34,452 (pro-rata for part-time).

You will join a supportive team and work with pupils, families and school staff, providing practical assistance, ICT-enabled documentation, and support for classes, trips and community activities.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children, young people and families with learning disabilities and/or complex additional support needs is desirable, but not essential.
• Very good ICT skills are essential, including ability to prepare documentation and take accurate minutes.
• Must be approachable, flexible, well organized and able to build positive relationships with families.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Senior PSO, children, families, school staff and partner agencies.
• Provide practical support to families, including helping with forms and accessing services.
• Prepare documentation and minutes at meetings.
• Support pupils within classes and accompany pupils and staff on school trips and community activities.
• Some irregular weekend work to support family events.
