Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Pupil Support Officer for Oaklands School in Edinburgh on a fixed-term contract until 20 December 2027. The role is 30 hours per week across 39 weeks, with the aim of supporting children and families and working as part of a collaborative team.

You will work closely with the Senior PSO, school staff and partner agencies, providing practical support, helping families complete forms, access services and manage funding applications, and attending meetings

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people and families with learning disabilities or complex additional support needs is desirable but not essential.
• Very good ICT skills are essential for preparing documentation and minute-taking at meetings.
• Able to support pupils within classes and accompany on trips and activities.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Senior PSO, children and young people, families, staff and partner agencies.
• Provide practical support to families, helping with forms, services and funding applications.
• Prepare documentation and take accurate minutes and notes at meetings.
• Provide pupil support and accompany pupils on school trips and community activities.
• Support flexible and varied learning activities and events, including occasional weekend work.
