Job summary

Scottish Borders Council is seeking a Pupil Support Assistant to work closely with teaching staff to support pupils identified as having additional needs. The role involves assisting with communication, written tasks and IT, and supporting pupils with mobility, self-care and supervision during intervals.

No formal qualifications are required, but a standard of school education is desirable, with on-the-job training available. The council commits to inclusive recruitment and supporting diversity.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist pupils with communication and written tasks.
• Support pupils with IT tasks as part of their learning activities.
• Assist with mobility, self-care and personal hygiene where required.
• Supervise pupils during breaks and lunchtimes to ensure safety.
• Assist in the implementation of plans devised by the CT/LST or other agencies.
• Monitor pupils' progress in learning and behaviour on an informal basis.
• Contribute to reports for review and planning meetings.
• liaise with Head Teacher, Class Teacher and Learning Support Team as required.
