Job summary

Fife Council in Scotland is recruiting a dedicated Pupil Support Assistant (PSA 3) to back teaching staff in helping pupils with significant learning or health needs access the curriculum and participate inclusively.

You will support health-related needs, implement learning plans during short teacher absences, and contribute to planning, records and learning environments at Caledonia High School.

Qualifications

• You are required to have good levels of interpersonal skills and abilities which will enable you to work as a member of a team to ensure positive outcomes for all children and young people.
• Experience of supporting young people with additional support needs
• Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
• Educated to SCQF level 7 which includes HNC Childhood Practice, SVQ Social Services Children and Young People or equivalent
• You must have the ability to register with SSSC within 6 months of taking up employment in this role and must complete the required PRTL over the registration period
• Good IT Skills

Responsibilities

• As a PSA 3 you will support the pupil's associated health and care needs.
• You will implement the planned learning programme in teacher absence for up to 3 days.
• You will support pupils individually or in small groups in identified areas of learning.
• You will contribute to planning and review for individual pupils, including Child’s Plan.
• You will contribute to a stimulating learning environment and assist in timetabling and organisation.
• You will contribute to written records of pupil progress.
• You will provide high level care to enable the pupil to function to their full potential.
• You will organise and participate in lunchtime clubs/learning support clubs.
• You will use specialist equipment to enable learning for pupils with severe physical impairment.
• You will use specialist communication methods to support access to lessons.
