The Parkside School in Norwich is seeking a Pupil Inclusion Coordinator to lead safeguarding, attendance, and welfare across the school.
You will coordinate referrals to CAMHS and Early Help, conduct home visits, and monitor attendance and AP provisions to support pupils with SEND/SEMH. The role requires resilience, excellent communication, and a current UK driving license for home visits and AP settings.

To champion inclusion, attendance, and welfare across the school by serving as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), supporting pupil attendance, and coordinating targeted support for pupils and their families. The postholder will oversee referrals to external mental health and social care agencies, perform regular monitoring and quality assurance checks on Alternative Provisions, conduct home visits, and actively engage pupils who are at risk of persistent absence or emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA) and support young carers within the school.
1. Safeguarding & Child Protection (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership guidelines.
Respond promptly to child protection concerns, manage detailed record‑keeping via safeguarding systems (e.g., CPOMS), and contribute to multi‑agency meetings (Child in Need, Child Protection, Team Around the Family)
Act as a key contact for children’s services, police, and healthcare professionals to ensure joined‑up support for vulnerable pupils.
2. Attendance & Re‑engagement
Monitor, track, and analyze pupil attendance data to identify early patterns of absence or persistent absenteeism.
Formulate and implement individualized attendance plans for pupils facing barriers to attending school, particularly those experiencing emotionally based school avoidance or complex SEND‑related challenges.
Carry out regular, planned home visits to build trust with families, assess pupil well‑being, and support reintegration into school.
3. Mental Health, Family Support & External Referrals
Lead and process referrals to external agencies, including Early Help, CAMHS/NSFT, Family Support, and specialist local SEND/mental health organizations.
Work collaboratively with families to overcome barriers to learning, providing practical advice, signposting services, and delivering compassionate relational support.
Support pupils with wider barriers to learning such as being a young carer, refugee etc.
4. Alternative Provision (AP) Oversight & Quality Assurance
Maintain regular monitoring schedules and conduct on‑site check‑ins for pupils placed in off‑site or Alternative Provisions.
Verify pupil attendance, safety, progression, and physical/emotional well‑being at AP settings.
Ensure all AP providers adhere to the school’s stringent safeguarding standards, risk assessment protocols, and quality assurance frameworks.
5. General Responsibilities
Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential records in accordance with GDPR and school policy.
Engage in continuous professional development (CPD), including required DSL training and specialist SEND/attendance modules.
Promote the ethos, vision, and values of The Parkside School at all times, prioritizing pupil dignity, communication, and independence.
