Job summary

Escapade Group's Pumpkin Patch Entertainer role at Hobbledown Heath requires an energetic, friendly performer who can roam, lead games, deliver short scripted moments and improvise with families while keeping every interaction warm and in character across daytime and Pumpkin Nights.

You will work weekends and selected dates during school holidays, adapting pace and voice to different ages, looking after costumes and props, and collaborating with hosts, performers and operations staff to create

Availability is required for weekends and the daily half-term run; selected evening Pumpkin Nights may also be required.

The role

Hobbledown Heath's Pumpkin Patch comes alive with roaming characters, family entertainment, games and atmospheric Pumpkin Nights. Our Pumpkin Entertainers create that energy. This is a varied outdoor performance role: you might lead a game, deliver a short scripted moment, pose for photographs and improvise with families in the same shift, while keeping every interaction warm, inclusive and in character.

What you'll be doing

• Bring autumnal and pumpkin-themed characters to life through roaming interactions, short scenes, storytelling, games and event announcements.
• Draw in children and adults, lead audience participation and adapt your pace, volume and performance style to different ages and group sizes.
• Improvise personalised moments and photo interactions while maintaining character, protecting the story and respecting guest boundaries.
• Learn and repeat set material consistently, respond to timings and cues, and work closely with hosts, fellow performers and the operations team.
• Look after costumes and props, move safely through busy outdoor spaces, and maintain energy and performance quality across repeated sets and Pumpkin Nights.

What we're looking for

• A confident, expressive performer who can command attention while remaining welcoming and reassuring for younger guests.
• Strong storytelling, improvisation, comic timing and audience awareness, with the ability to think quickly when plans or crowds change.
• A clear speaking voice and the confidence to lead, direct and energise groups warmly but firmly.
• Energy, stamina, reliability and genuine team spirit for an active outdoor role with varied daytime and evening performances.

Experience that helps (not essential)

Experience in theatre, am-dram, pantomime, children's entertainment, presenting, teaching or tour guiding all translates well. Singing, dance, circus, puppetry, magic, bubble performance or musical skills are a bonus, but strong character work and guest connection matter most.
