Job summary

Dumfries and Galloway Council is recruiting a Streetscene Operative 1 in Castle Douglas. The role involves grass cutting, hedge trimming, litter collection, and cemetery work as part of the Community Assets Service.

You will work 36 hours per week and may include evenings and weekends, with regular duties outdoors in all weather. A driving licence is essential; PVG scheme checks apply for suitability to work with vulnerable groups, and you will join a team that values safety and public spaces

Qualifications

• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Good knowledge of health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Grass cutting, hedge trimming, and clearing leaves and litter in parks, cemeteries and open spaces.
• Assisting in burial service and supporting senior grounds operatives.
• Use of power tools, light plant and tractor mounted equipment.
• Driving Community Asset vehicles and equipment operation.
• General maintenance of streets, parks, and public spaces.
• Support for school crossing patrols and other community tasks.
