Job summary

Westminster City Council seeks a Litigation Solicitor to join the Employment, Criminal and Commercial Litigation team at Westminster City Hall. You will manage high-profile cases and deliver legal advice to both Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea Councils.

You should be able to draft clear legal documents, interview witnesses, and coordinate with Counsel and external solicitors. This is a permanent on-site role with 36 hours per week, closing date 8 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience of independently managing a caseload.
• Strong knowledge of law, evidence and procedures relevant to litigation.
• Ability to draft clear and accurate legal advice, pleadings or statements of case, applications and witness statements.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a digital and agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage high-profile, politically sensitive and financially significant cases.
• Draft statements of case, applications, summonses, notices and other legal documents; interview and prepare witnesses.
• Instruct and manage Counsel and external solicitors; negotiate with parties and stakeholders.
