Job summary

Chadwick Nott is seeking an Associate (1-3 PQE) to join its Inquiries & Investigations team in Cardiff, working on a high-profile public inquiry for a major public sector client. The role requires initial 4-5 days on site in central London and flexibility for travel.

The position offers either a permanent contract or a fixed-term 12-month contract, with salary guidance of £65,000 to £95,000 and on-site attendance expected.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years' PQE as a solicitor in England & Wales.
• Experience of public inquiries or supporting a core participant.
• Experience in private practice, government, regulatory or public sector environments.
• Involvement in large-scale disclosure or document review exercises.
• Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Acting for statutory and non statutory inquiries.
• Representing core participants in public inquiries.
• Conducting internal investigations and independent reviews.
• Liaising with, interviewing and taking statements from witnesses.
• Reviewing, analysing and managing large volumes of evidence.
• Supporting disclosure projects and document review exercises.
• Redacting sensitive and confidential information.
• Using specialist IT systems to monitor, analyse and report on evidence.
• Attending hearings on behalf of clients.
• Assisting with media handling.
• Advising on inquiry processes including evidence collection, document management, privilege, FOI, data protection, judicial review and reputation management.
