Job summary

Wirral Council seeks a Public Health Knowledge & Intelligence Analyst to join our Public Health Intelligence Team. The role supports evidence-informed planning, development and evaluation of public health programmes across the Council and partners.

You will analyse health data, identify trends and support decision-making with clear, accessible insights. The post is fixed term for 2 years, with hybrid working and a 36-hour week.

Public Health Knowledge and Intelligence Analyst (Fixed Term 2 years)

There has never been a more exciting time to join Wirral Council. As an analyst in our Public Health team, you will be part of our huge ambitions for Wirral. Improving the health and wellbeing of our population is a major priority for us, and we are seeking to increase our analytical capacity to help us achieve our aims.

About the role

This post is part of the Public Health Intelligence Team, who provide intelligence and insight to help inform and address our priority programmes of work. You will work across the Council and with external stakeholders to provide specialist Public Health analytical and intelligence support to inform the development, delivery and evaluation of public health programmes, policies and priorities.

Reporting to the Senior Public Health Practitioner - Intelligence and working closely with the with Consultants in Public Health, Public Health practitioners, local authority services, NHS colleagues and a wide range of partners., the post-holder will develop and deliver intelligence products that support evidence-based planning, commissioning and service improvement.

About the Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who has good knowledge of health and care data, advanced public health analytical skills and problem-solving capacity.

The successful candidate will be able to analyse and interpret a range of data and intelligence sources to understand current needs, identify trends, and support evidence-based decision-making.

You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to convey complex information in an accessible and effective way. You will be educated to degree level and have substantial experience of undertaking specialist and complex analysis to inform decision-making.

Whilst not essential, experience of working within a public health department in a local authority would be advantageous.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative and forward-thinking individual to join a high-performing Public Health Intelligence Team, supporting the development of evidence and insight to inform action on health inequalities and improve outcomes for Wirral residents.
