Job summary

Reading Borough Council is offering a Specialist Apprentice Public Health Analyst role in Reading. The apprenticeship combines hands-on work with a fully funded Level 7 Health and Care Intelligence Specialist programme, developing advanced analytical skills for public health projects.

You will work with health and population data to understand local needs, identify inequalities and support evidence-based decisions across the council and partners.

Qualifications

• Curious, analytical mindset and eagerness to learn.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
• Degree in STEM or social science with substantial mathematical content, or equivalent analytical experience.
• Experience with record-level data and applying analytical methods.
• Strong numerical and data analysis skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate complex information to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Analyse health and population data to identify trends and inequalities.
• Apply statistical, epidemiological and analytical methods to datasets.
• Contribute to JSNA outputs, health needs assessments and reports.
• Develop dashboards and infographics that translate analysis into insights.
• Support public health surveillance and monitoring of local trends.
• Collaborate across Council, NHS, academia and partners.
