Job summary

The Gleneagles Hotel in Edinburgh is seeking a Public Area Assistant to join our Housekeeping team, responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in public areas and ensuring guest comfort. The role offers a base salary with gratuities, and a range of valued perks and benefits.

With a 39-hour contract and opportunities for flexible working, you will contribute to a luxurious guest experience across the hotel and its facilities, while enjoying staff discounts and development

Qualifications

• Strong command of English, spoken and written.
• Previous experience in similar housekeeping roles is beneficial but training provided.
• Flexible work patterns to fit around personal commitments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and maintain high cleanliness standards throughout the hotel public areas.
• Ensure hygiene and presentation of public areas, reception and service spaces.
• Restock and replace items in public areas and bathrooms as needed.
• Clean bathrooms: surfaces, floors, showers, baths, basins, toilets to a high standard.
• Vacuum corridors, stairs, lifts; monitor cleaning materials and equipment.
• Interact with guests professionally to enhance their stay.

We are currently seeking a conscientious and diligentPublic Area Assistantto join our Housekeeping team, looking after our public areas.

The on target earning potential for this role is £35,533 / per annum based on a 39 hour contract - comprising a base salary of £28,533, plus a qualified estimate of £7,000 in gratuities and service charge.* As a member of the Gleneagles team, you will also enjoy a fantastic range of perks, benefits and rewards

Here’s a bit more detail on what we see you doing in this role:

• Consistently delivering and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the hotel, including deep cleaning exercises
• Taking huge pride in ensuring the cleanliness, presentation and hygiene of all the public areas, reception and service areas are always achieved
• Restocking and replacing items in public areas and bathrooms, making sure our guests have everything they need when visiting or in advance of their stay
• Servicing bathrooms by washing and emptying bins; cleaning all surfaces and floors; showers, baths, basins, bidets, and toilets to the highest standard
• Vacuuming bathrooms, bedroom floors, corridors, stairs, and lifts to remove all debris; checking the vacuum cleaner each week; using the correct cleaning materials for each particular task
• Interacting with our guests, always warm, professional, helpful and doing everything you can to exceed their expectations; playing your part in making their stay with us luxurious in every way

The kind of person we’re looking for:

• Ideally, you’ll have previous experience within a similar role though full training is offered
• Excellent personal presentation, hygiene and grooming standards are all second nature to you
• You’ll be required to complete standard forms to record events on a regular basis and interact with our guests so a strong grasp of English language, both written and spoken, are essential; additional
• Highly motivated and possessing an immense sense of pride in your work; you’re passionate about delivering the high standards for our guests in line with the Gleneagles brand
• You have a positive “can do” attitude to solving problems in a professional and courteous manner
• A strong team player with great communication skills and an enthusiastic approach; you’re well organised and punctual with an eagle eye for detail
• You want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other and above all has fun along the way
