Basic Salary £28,000–£30,000 depending on experience

Our client, a well-respected and reputable trade association, is currently looking for a Public Affairs Assistant to join a hard-working, friendly, and collaborative team.

The Role of Public Affairs Assistant

Monitor, research, and communicate on public policy, political and other issues impacting the sector

Draft engaging and informative policy briefings, consultation responses and position papers

Develop and deliver public affairs campaigns and stakeholder engagement strategies

Represent the organisation at key meetings and events

Maintain information resources such as trackers, databases and briefing libraries

Work closely with a small team and contribute to the wider policy and external affairs work

Person Specification

Demonstrable experience in public affairs, policy, or a related field (e.g. Parliament, Government, trade association, public affairs agency, charity sector, or campaigning)

Educated to degree level in a relevant subject

Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills

Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to summarise complex information concisely

Politically aware with an understanding of UK political systems and processes

Confident team player with a professional, reliable and accountable approach

Ability to multitask and work well under pressure and tight deadlines

IT literate, particularly in MS Office

Willingness to travel and occasionally attend events outside standard hours
