Job summary

Randstad Construction & Property in the UK is seeking an experienced Site Agent for rail civils within a Kent-based framework, with occasional travel to London. The role requires access to a car and a valid rail-focused skill set including PTS, CSCS and SMSTS.

You will work closely with the Project Management team, manage subcontractors on-site, and ensure safe, compliant execution of civil works across rail projects such as station upgrades, embankment work, drainage and earthworks.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering, construction manager or equivalent, or experience from the tools.
• Experience on rail projects and civils works.
• Valid site cards: CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, PTS; COSS/TWC would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Management team on site operations.
• Onboard subcontractors; brief them on scope and requirements.
• Prepare and sign Work Package Plans and task briefings.
• Manage site readiness reviews and track possession readiness.
• Act as liaison between site teams and management to resolve issues.
• Coordinate welfare facilities and site logistics; ensure site setup.
• Maintain safety oversight using required site cards to keep works compliant.

Job description

I'm looking for an experienced Site Agent to join my client, a rail/civil engineering contractor who are working on a large rail framework based in the Kent with occasional travel into London. The ideal candidate will need to have access to a car but you will not need to use it every day.

You will need previous rail civils experience. Project experience includes rail station upgrades, embankment stabilisation, drainage, earthworks, concrete structures, bridges, UTX, track etc.

Experience with railway engineering, civil engineering, earthworks, ground investigations, topographical surveys, ecology and drainage.

This role is INSIDE of IR35 - you will be PAYE via Umbrella or Randstad

Roles and responsibilities:

• Working alongside the Project Management team.
• Subbie Management: Send out tender packs (ITTs), take subcontractors on-site to explain the jobs, and show them exactly what needs doing.
• Paperwork & Briefings: Write the Work Package Plans and Task Briefings, and make sure Stephen signs them off before work starts.
• Track Access & Whiteboards: Update the site whiteboards and run the readiness reviews to make sure everyone is ready for the possession.
• Site Problem Solving: Act as the middleman between the site teams and Stephen to fix any issues that pop up during the shift.
• Welfare & Logistics: Book all the site welfare facilities and make sure the site is set up correctly for the lads.
• Safety & Oversight: Use your PTS and SMSTS (and COSS/TWC if needed) to keep the site safe and make sure the work is being done right.

Candidate requirements:

• Degree qualified in civil engineering, construction manager or equivalent or experience from working on the tools
• Previous experience working with on rail projects
• A valid CSCS card, SSSTS or SMSTS and PTS
• TWC and COSS would be great
