Qualifications

Contract type: Full time (37.5 hours) – Permanent

Location: Cardiff, Cardiff International Study Centre

Salary: up to £39,605.59 per annum

As a Tutor in the Business, Law and Humanities Department at the ISC, you will develop and/or teach psychology modules across various programmes, including the level-3 International Foundation Year (IFY), level-4 International Year 1 (IY1), or level-6 Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP), or a combination thereof.
The Centre also offers modules in other disciplines, which you may be asked to deliver when appropriate.
We welcome applications from individuals with a background in psychology, particularly those specializing in research methods (qualitative and/or quantitative) and/or cognitive psychology.
You will contribute to the department's operations by teaching classes, developing teaching materials and assessments, and supporting student progression through engaging and innovative learning methods. You will also mark assessments and provide feedback.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Contribute to the delivery and development of modules and teaching sessions at Cardiff ISC.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials, with a teaching load of up to 25 hours per week.
  • Mark assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback, and prepare student reports and tutorials.
  • Develop and update course materials, including content for the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
  • Assist with student induction, orientation, and registration programs.
  • Coordinate with colleagues to support student welfare and progression.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures and participate in course review processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
  • Attend and contribute to quality assurance meetings, standardisation, and moderation activities.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the overall management of the program and student experience.
  • Keep detailed records of teaching activities and participate in training and development activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by centre management.
ABOUT YOU
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area (Essential)
  • A teaching qualification (Desirable)
  • A Master’s degree in a related discipline (Essential for level 6 delivery; desirable for levels 4 and 6)
  • Experience teaching in UK higher education, further education, or sixth form (Essential)
  • Experience working with international students (Desirable)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines (Essential)
  • Relevant professional or industrial experience (Desirable)
