Job summary

York St John University in York is seeking a part-time Technical Specialist to support teaching and research in Psychology. You will provide expert advice and training on EEG, eye-tracking, and virtual reality equipment and software to staff and students at all levels.

You will help design and deliver practical workshops, assist researchers with study setup and analysis, and oversee daily facility operations, including booking and maintenance, with a 0.6FTE schedule (Weds-Fri).

Qualifications

• Applicants will have a degree in Psychology or substantial practical experience in a related field.
• Proactive individual with highly competent technical skills and ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Support high-quality teaching and research activities in Psychology.
• Provide expert advice and training on equipment and software to staff and students.
• Oversee day-to-day running of Psychology facilities, including booking system management, maintenance, and safe operating procedures.
• Provide tailored support to researchers for study setup, recruitment and analysis.
