Job summary

York St John University in York is seeking a part-time Laboratory Technician to support our Bioscience teaching labs and researchers. You will help maintain specialist lab environments and assist with practical class setup and demonstrations.

You will collaborate with academics, researchers and students to deliver a high-quality technical service, focusing on safety, efficiency and a welcoming learning environment.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate will have experience of working in a laboratory environment, working with various equipment and resources, with experience of maintaining bacterial stocks.
• You will provide support across microbiology, molecular genetics/biology, cellular pathology, histology, biochemistry and haematology.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to learn and work closely with the team.

• Maintain and manage the specialist lab environments and organise practical class setup.
• Demonstrate practical techniques and actively support students and academic colleagues.
