Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking Psychology graduates to gain hands-on experience in SEN and SEMH schools. You will support pupils with diverse needs, work alongside educators and therapists, and help children build confidence in the classroom. This role offers weekly PAYE pay, CPD access, and safeguarding training.

The position involves delivering small-group interventions, fostering emotional regulation, and collaborating with SENCOs and pastoral teams to enable learning and development.

Qualifications

What you'll be doing:

• Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, and other additional learning needs
• Building positive relationships that help children feel safe, understood, and ready to learn
• Delivering one-to-one and small group interventions
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams
• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and social skills

The schools you'll work in:

You'll gain experience across a variety of SEN and SEMH schools, giving you exposure to different settings, age groups, and specialist provisions.

This could include:

• SEMH provisions
• Alternative provisions
• Specialist resource bases
• SEND units within mainstream schools

We're looking for someone who:

• Holds a Psychology degree (or is due to graduate soon)
• Has a genuine interest in child development, mental health, or special educational needs
• Is patient, resilient, and empathetic
• Can build positive relationships with young people
• Is keen to gain meaningful experience that will support future career goals
• Volunteering with children or young people
• Youth work, mentoring, coaching, or tutoring
• SEN or SEMH experience
• Thrive training, or a willingness to complete Protocol Education's free Thrive training
