Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs before pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or another specialist field?

A welcoming and supportive SEN school in Stroud is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to join their team as an SEN Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable experience working with children who have a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, learning disabilities, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

As a Psychology Graduate - SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis, supporting both their academic progress and emotional wellbeing. You will collaborate with experienced teachers and specialist staff while developing practical skills in behaviour management, communication strategies, and child development.

This role is ideal for graduates considering further study or careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Teaching.

Key Responsibilities - Psychology Graduate - SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and the wider school team.
