Are you interested in understanding behaviour, communication, emotional development and the ways people learn?

Aspire People are recruiting a motivated and compassionate Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the Royston and Meldreth area of Hertfordshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to put your degree into practice, gain valuable hands‑on experience and develop the skills needed for a future career in Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health, Teaching or Social Care.

No previous SEN experience is required for the right candidate. We are looking for graduates with the right attitude, a genuine interest in supporting young people and a willingness to learn.

What Will You Be Doing?

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in helping pupils access education, develop new skills and build confidence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and personal development.

  • Working alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals to support individual pupil needs.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and encouraging environment where pupils can thrive.
  • Every day will provide opportunities to learn, develop your skills and make a meaningful difference to a young person's life.
Who Should Apply?

This role is particularly suited to graduates who want to build relevant experience before applying for further study, postgraduate training or a career in a related profession.

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Are willing to undertake training and learn from experienced professionals.
  • Hold GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Essential requirement: GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent.

Previous experience working with children, young people or individuals with additional needs would be beneficial, but it is not essential. Graduates with transferable skills, relevant volunteering experience or a strong commitment to supporting others are encouraged to apply.

What Will You Gain?

This is more than a classroom support role. It is an opportunity to develop practical skills and gain meaningful experience that may support your future career ambitions.

You can benefit from:

  • Funded training and recognised qualifications to support your professional development.
  • Relevant hands‑on experience in a specialist educational setting.
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary working alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals.
  • Transferable skills in communication, behaviour support, observation and relationship‑building.
  • Ongoing professional development to help you build confidence and capability.
