Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting Psychology Graduates to join a specialist school in Royston/Meldreth, Hertfordshire, as SEN Teaching Assistants supporting students aged 6-19 with additional needs.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups to help access learning, support communication and social development, and promote mental wellbeing and independence within a collaborative team.

The role offers full-time, term-time hours with a path to permanent employment and fully funded training.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in working with children and young people.
• Interest in psychology, education, therapy or mental health.
• Patience, empathy and resilience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support.
• Helping students access learning and participate in activities.
• Supporting communication and social development.
• Promoting emotional wellbeing and independence.
• Creating a positive, safe and nurturing environment.
• Supporting students with personal care when required.
• Working closely with teaching and specialist support staff.
