Job summary

CD Auto Engineering Recruitment Ltd in Merseyside is seeking an experienced PSV Workshop Controller to lead the engineering operation of a busy passenger transport business. This hands-on role balances workshop floor control with compliance and administration.

You will manage technicians, allocate workload, monitor DVSA inspections, and ensure maintenance standards. Occasional cover for Engineering Manager and health & safety duties included.

Qualifications

• Previous PSV, bus, coach or heavy commercial vehicle engineering experience.
• Experience as Workshop Controller, Supervisor, Chargehand or similar.

Responsibilities

• Control day-to-day workload of the engineering workshop.
• Supervise PSV Technicians on the workshop floor.
• Allocate work and ensure repairs are completed efficiently.
• Monitor daily vehicle inspections and maintenance compliance.
• Ensure vehicles are maintained to DVSA and company standards.
• Manage workshop staff, productivity and performance.
• Support fault diagnosis and technical decision-making.
• Maintain maintenance documentation correctly.
• Uphold Health & Safety and workshop housekeeping.
• Provide cover for Engineering Manager during absence.
