Job summary

ITSS Recruitment Ltd is seeking a capable PSV Mechanic in Barton-le-Clay to join a busy workshop. The role involves servicing, inspections, fault finding and repairs on a fleet of buses/coaches, with responsibilities including MOT preparation and maintaining accurate maintenance records.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PSV/bus or HGV maintenance, be able to identify issues and follow maintenance procedures while working safely and efficiently in a team environment.

Qualifications

PSV Mechanic , £25+ per hour, Barton-le-Clay, Company Pension + Sick Pay + Free Parking + Training & Career Progression

An established coach company in Barton-le-Clay is looking for a capable PSV Mechanic to join its workshop. With more than 30 coaches to maintain, this role offers the chance to become an important part of the team and help keep the fleet in excellent working condition.

Working alongside the Workshop Manager, the new PSV Mechanic will be responsible for a range of mechanical tasks, from routine servicing and vehicle inspections to fault diagnosis and more complex repairs. You will also help ensure coaches are prepared for their MOTs and remain compliant with relevant safety standards.

The ideal PSV Mechanic will have hands‑on experience maintaining buses, coaches or heavy goods vehicles, with previous PSV experience being an advantage. You should be confident identifying mechanical issues, following maintenance procedures and managing your workload efficiently, while contributing positively to the wider workshop team.

Required PSV Mechanic Experience:

• Background in bus, coach or HGV maintenance and repair; PSV experience is desirable.
• Ability to carry out servicing, inspections, fault finding and mechanical repairs.
• Awareness of DVSA requirements and vehicle roadworthiness standards.
• Experience preparing vehicles for MOTs and keeping maintenance documentation up to date.
• Good planning skills and a methodical approach to work.
• Full UK driving licence; holding a PSV licence would be beneficial.
• Dependable attitude, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
• Flexibility to assist with vehicle breakdowns and call-outs when necessary.

Alongside the day‑to‑day maintenance work, you will help organise servicing requirements, communicate with drivers about vehicle issues and ensure repair work is completed promptly. You may also be asked to support workshop operations in the Workshop Manager's absence.
