Job summary

Newbury & District is seeking a PSV / HGV Technician at our Newbury depot to repair and maintain heavy vehicles to the highest standards. You will diagnose faults, carry out preventative maintenance and ensure safety and reliability of the fleet.

The role offers a 2pm–10pm shift, permanent full-time, with £21.80/hour and a £4.29 night premium after 6pm. PSV/HGV experience and NVQ Level 3 are preferred, and you’ll join a supportive engineering team with good benefits. Weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Hold a NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining and repairing PSV, HGV or commercial vehicles.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
• Confident diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs.
• Commitment to safety and high workmanship standards.

• Inspect, repair and maintain vehicles to a high standard.

Job Title: PSV / HGV Technician

Location: Newbury

Salary: £21.80 per hour plus £4.29 per hour night premium for all hours worked after 6pm

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 2.00pm - 10.00pm. Occasional weekend working required.

We are looking for a PSV / HGV Technician to join our engineering team at our Newbury depot.

We want hard-working, self-starting individuals with a passion for repairing and maintaining heavy-duty vehicles. You will play an important role in ensuring our fleet is maintained to a high standard and operates safely and reliably.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician, mechanic or vehicle engineer looking to develop their career within a professional and supportive engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Experience & Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate will:

• Hold a minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
• Have experience maintaining and repairing PSV, HGV or commercial vehicles
• Have a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
• Be confident diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs
• Demonstrate a commitment to safety and high standards of workmanship
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team
• A PSV licence is preferred, although not essential.
