Job summary

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading passenger transport operator for skilled PCV/HGV Technicians to join their Reading engineering team. You will service, repair and inspect buses and coaches to high safety and reliability standards in a modern workshop.

Varied shifts (days, lates, nights with enhanced rates) and long-term career development await the right candidates with NVQ2 in Heavy Vehicle or PSV maintenance or 5 years' relevant experience.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle or PSV Maintenance or 5 years' relevant heavy vehicle maintenance experience.
• Proven fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
• Experience with PCV/HGV servicing, repairs and inspections.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on PCV and HGV vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Complete vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Record work completed accurately using digital workshop systems.
• Ensure all work complies with health & safety and DVSA standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
• Work with the engineering team to maximise fleet availability.

The Role

As a PCV/HGV Technician, you\'ll play a vital role in ensuring a fleet of buses and coaches are maintained to the highest safety and reliability standards. Working within a professional engineering team, you\'ll carry out servicing, repairs, diagnostics and inspections to keep vehicles operating efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on PCV and HGV vehicles.


• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.


• Complete vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.


• Record work completed accurately using digital workshop systems.


• Ensure all work complies with health & safety and DVSA standards.


• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.


• Work collaboratively with the wider engineering team to maximise fleet availability.

What We\'re Looking For

• Previous experience as a PCV, HGV, LGV, Truck or Heavy Vehicle Technician.


• NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle or PSV Maintenance or a minimum of five years\' relevant heavy vehicle maintenance experience.


• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.


• Good understanding of vehicle maintenance standards and workshop procedures.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


• A PCV licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
