CD Auto Engineering Recruitment Ltd is recruiting an Engineering Manager to run two PSV engineering operations from Liverpool and Wirral depots. The role is senior and hands-on, with responsibility for compliance, workshop performance, budgets and leading a multi-skilled team.

You will manage approximately 8 engineers plus support staff, ensuring DVSA standards, license maintenance and fleet reliability while driving safety and efficiency across both sites.

Job Description

Are you an experienced PSV Engineering Manager or Supervisor ready to take full responsibility for a busy engineering operation? We are recruiting an Engineering Manager for an established passenger transport operator in Merseyside. You will be primarily based at a Liverpool-area depot while also holding engineering responsibility for a second depot on the Wirral. This is a senior, hands‑on management position with full responsibility for engineering compliance, workshop performance, budgets and the leadership of a multi-skilled engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Taking full responsibility for engineering performance across two depot operations
• Ensuring complete DVSA, operator licence and company engineering compliance
• Managing vehicle maintenance, inspections, servicing and repair standards
• Managing engineering budgets and controlling departmental expenditure
• Leading and developing a team of approximately 8 Engineers
• Managing an additional team of auxiliary and vehicle presentation staff
• Maximising fleet availability, reliability and workshop productivity
• Ensuring maintenance records and engineering documentation remain fully compliant
• Managing staff performance, attendance, training and development
• Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety across both locations
• Working with senior management to improve fleet and engineering performance

Desired Skills And Experience

This is an experienced management appointment and applicants should have:

• Previous supervisory or management experience within a PCV / PSV engineering environment
• Transport Manager CPC qualification
• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of DVSA and operator licence maintenance requirements
• Experience managing engineering compliance and vehicle maintenance systems
• Experience leading and developing engineering teams
• Strong budgeting and cost-control experience
• Good organisational, leadership and decision-making skills

You may currently be working as an Engineering Manager, Fleet Engineer, Workshop Manager, Assistant Engineering Manager or an experienced Engineering Supervisor ready for greater responsibility.

TEAM RESPONSIBILITY

You will have responsibility for an engineering operation comprising approximately:

8 Engineers

4 Auxiliary Staff

4 Cleaning / Vehicle Presentation Staff

The role requires effective leadership across both sites while ensuring the primary depot continues to operate safely, efficiently and compliantly.
