Job summary

First Recruitment Group is seeking a PSR Mechanical Engineer to work on a contract basis in Helensburgh, Scotland, with responsibilities spanning technical design, PSR deliverables, and safety-focused operations within a highly regulated environment.

The candidate should have a background in mechanical design or installation/maintenance, with experience in PSRs, design standards, and proven problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• HNC (or equivalent) qualification with relevant engineering experience.
• Experience undertaking Periodic Safety Reviews (PSRs) and safety case assessment.
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or equivalent professional standing.
• Knowledge of British and international design standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical excellence in the specification, production and assessment of mechanical design packages.
• Conduct plant walkdowns and produce associated Periodic Safety Review (PSR) deliverables.
• Specify reliability requirements and operational constraints for infrastructure systems.
• Assess work control procedures relating to maintenance activities.
• Evaluate infrastructure design, material condition, qualification and ageing mechanisms to support continued safe operation.
• Develop practical, innovative and cost-effective solutions for plant modifications and design changes.
• Maintain and promote a strong safety and security culture.
• Act as an intelligent customer to ensure engineering and safety-related contract outputs meet required standards and specifications.
• Support engineering assessments and decision-making using appropriate technical data and evidence.
