Job summary

Apple Orchard School in Horsham, West Sussex, is seeking a motivated PSHE/Careers Teacher to join our expanding therapeutic community and dedicated team. The role requires QTS, the ability to motivate and support vulnerable students, and the delivery of PSHE, Careers, vocational subjects and ASDAN within the National Curriculum framework.

You will work closely with a small, supportive team, contribute to safeguarding, and bring flexibility to teach other subjects as needed.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
• Ability to motivate and encourage vulnerable young people.
• Outstanding classroom ability and behaviour management.
• Ability to create and deliver stimulating PSHE, Careers, vocational subjects and ASDAN programmes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver PSHE, Careers, vocational subjects and ASDAN within the National Curriculum framework.
• Motivate and support students with SEMH challenges.
• Contribute to safeguarding and curriculum development with a small team.
• Teach other subjects as needed and adapt to school requirements.

Salary: £28,000 - £37,800, dependent on experience
Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, 8.45am - 4.30pm; Tuesday, 8.45am - 5.00pm

About Our School

Apple Orchard is an expanding therapeutic community with a small secondary school attached. All students are looked-after and have SEMH challenges; as such, we are looking for a PSHE/Careers Teacher with a passion for working with those who are most vulnerable and who can build trusting, solid relationships.

Apple Orchard School is an integral part of a therapeutic community consisting of residential care and a therapy team. The Headteacher leads an experienced team of teachers and teaching assistants. Between them, they offer a wide range of subjects that draw from the National Curriculum and GCSE pathways as a starting point.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and committed professional to join in the continued development and success of the school. The successful candidate will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• The ability to create and deliver stimulating programmes of study in PSHE, Careers, vocational subjects and ASDAN

• The ability to teach other subjects
• Must be a driver, able to drive both manual and automatic vehicles

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Apple Orchard School.
