Job summary

A Pupil Referral Unit in north Bristol is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support children with special educational needs and challenging behaviour. About the PRU Learning Support Assistant role

A PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) in north Bristol area is currently recruiting for a learning support assistant to join them ASAP. The PRU caters for children and young adults who have been excluded from mainstream education or are in a transition period before finding a place in a specialist setting.

  • Great platform for aspiring teachers

  • £90 - £125 per day, depending on experience
  • Full-time, Monday - Friday 8.30am to 4pm
  • Term time only
  • Bristol – BS10

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing learning support for KS2 to KS4 students with trauma, SEN, behavioural disorders, and other mental health issues.
  • Offering 1:1 assistance for pupils with Special Needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Collaborating with trained therapists, psychologists, and other professionals in education and mental health fields.
  • This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain classroom experience prior to teacher training and becoming a qualified teacher.

What we need from you:

  • A graduate (2:2 or above - Psychology and Criminology desirable) or experienced teaching assistant / learning support assistant passionate about Special Educational Needs and Behavioural Needs.
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.
  • Resilient and confident in working with challenging behaviour.
